Port of Famagusta
The Port of Famagusta cuts the medieval city from the sea. Its historic connection with the medieval city was cancelled out after its transformation into a commercial port by the British.The decision for its transformation into a contemporary commercial port, or a private marina, or a public water area will determine its new relation to the old city and to the rest of the waterfront.

CONTROVERSY 2: MAKE THE PORT PART OF A PUBLIC COASTLINE? Ports are usually isolated zones, excluding citizens from their activities. What if the port of Famagusta becomes part of a public coastline and connects the old city to the seafront?
